The University of Central Oklahoma’s Mass Communication Department offers a variety of majors and award winning clubs. The MCOM Department has professional staff and faculty who are some of the best in the business. We offer students the opportunity to have hands-on experiences with UCentral and The Vista. MCOM students will take part in internships during their time at UCO that will allow them to put what they’ve learned into practice. Every semester the MCOM Department offers a tuition waiver to their students to help them with tuition and fees. We look forward to seeing where our current students go from here as well as our future students. Careers start here.

Panel C - Majors and clubs
Majors available:
Interpersonal Communication degrees give students the opportunity to learn how families, races and genders communicate.
Organizational Communication gives students the opportunity to learn how a business works business to business as well as business to consumer.
Photographic Arts gives students the chance to learn photography skills from professional and the chance to practice in the studio.
Professional Media gives students the chance to learn with hands-on experience by working with UCentral on the broadcast.
Strategic Communications allows students to learn a variety of communication techniques including public relations, advertising and organizational communications.
Clubs available:
American Advertising Federation (AAF) allows students to volunteer as well as work on advertising campaigns.
National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) allows students to compete in a nationwide competition where they will plan a campaign and present it to the client.
Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association (OBEA) allows students to meet and interact with broadcast professionals.
Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) allows students to be a part of a national organization that seeks to enhance students’ networks and education.

UDefy won second place in the national competition
Professor Jacque Hocking was awarded the Fred Tewell Outstanding College Communication Educator Award from the Oklahoma Speech Theatre Communication Association (OSTCA)
Chair of the MCOM Department, Dr. Mary Carver, was awarded the Citizen's Bank Leadership and Civic Engagement Award.
